Mujo Palette — Limited Edition
The Mujo palette is a limited-edition artist’s object inspired by Edo-period Japanese printmaking and the philosophy of ukiyo—the fleeting beauty of the floating world.
A Meditation on Impermanence
In Edo Japan, color became a meditation on transience, a way to grasp the shimmer of life as it slips away. Ukiyo-e painters and printmakers of the Floating World sought to express the poetry of the everyday: the glint of water, the haze of dawn, the quiet precision of line.
Their pigments arose from earth and plant, from ground minerals and natural dyes transformed through patient craft. The Mujo palette reimagines these traditions through nine tones drawn from enogu painting and historical woodblock printmaking.
Handcrafted Wooden Palette
At the heart of the set is an award-winning cherry wood palette, handcrafted in Italy. In Japanese tradition, wood is a living material—responsive to time, touch, and use. As it slowly develops a patina, it embodies impermanence while retaining a quiet vitality, echoing the spirit of ukiyo in Edo-period visual culture. This palette embraces that philosophy: designed to age gracefully and to record the gestures of its use.
Artisan Brushes
Completing the set are three artisan travel brushes by Tintoretto, handmade in Italy and selected for their precision, responsiveness, and portability—tools meant to accompany the artist beyond the studio.
