Exclusive, organic plant based colors in tube format!

The Lake Pigments set features exclusive, vibrant plant pigments, expertly extracted by Lutea couleurs végétales in Belgium. This set includes three brand new colors available only in tube format: Yellow weld, extracted from dried weld, Reseda luteola, gleaned in France, Cosmos orange, extracted from dried flowers of the Cosmos plant, cultivated in Belgium by Lutea using organic farming practices and Logwood violet, extracted from South-American logwood.

The plants from which these pigments are extracted have been chosen for the quality of their dyes, their lightfastness and the usefulness of their shade on the palette of watercolorists. Lake pigments are organic pigments created by precipitating a dye onto an inert substrate, usually a mineral base, like alumina hydrate or calcium carbonate. The name "lake" originates from the Italian word "lacca."  In watercolor painting, lake pigments are prized for their unique hues, material texture and transparency.

Handmade in Italy, our watercolors are crafted according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, gum arabic from the acacia tree, local honey and rosemary essential oil.

I fell in love with the colors

I have a few Lutea paints and when I saw that A. Gallo had collaborated with Lutea Couleurs, I was all in. The palette of colors is exquisite. I would have purchased the other sets as well if my budget allowed. I am using these inside my nature journal.
