Every batch of paint is made from premium pigments mulled by hand on a glass slab with a special gum arabic binder and poured into pans. Unlike commercially "extruded" paints, each pan is poured multiple times and dries over two to three weeks. This intensive process creates a very pigmented, luminous and pure paint that activates beautifully when wet.

Our watercolors are all 100% handmade and free of cadmium, cobalt, lead and mercury. In developing this collection of colors, it was my vision to connect users with a lineage of materials that have been used by artists throughout the ages in an environmentally friendly way.

Inspired by the history of pigments used by artists and a passion for cross-cultural manuscript painting techniques, I began making my own paint nearly 10 years ago. The process of working with raw materials has become integral to my painting practice and now I am excited to share the poetry and quality of this paint with others.
