Some highlights of the Blue+Green palette are:

YInMn blue (PB86) is an exclusive new bright blue pigment that achieves pure color tones that were previously inaccessible on the color wheel, dark blue between ultramarine blue and cobalt. This new pigment has has a rather complex chemical composition and is produced only in small quantities making it very precious.

Lapis Lazuli, extra fine is an intense deep blue color made from the semi-precious stone used in historical painting. The stone has been mined for 6,000 years. The pigment was used in 14th and 15th century illuminated manuscripts and Italian panel paintings. During that period, ultramarine was more expensive than gold and often reserved for the cloaks of Christ and the Virgin. We have a new exclusive source for our premium extra fine Lapis lazuli. This exquisite Fra Angelico blue pigment is made by grinding semi-precious lapis lazuli stones into a powder and exacting the purest pigment in small, artisan batches.

Fig green (PY151, PG17), a color inspired by the color of young Mediterranean figs. Sap green (PY83, PG36, PV19, PR101) is a convenience green with a natural tone: it has the intrigue of a hand mixed green, perfect for foliage. Olive green deep (PY154, PY110, PB29) is a dark, granulating variation on Olive green. A natural mixed green with interesting two-tone separation in washes. Dark forest (PG7, PBk7, PY43) is a green neutral tone made from a blend of three pigments. It exhibits an almost black mass tone, and is a beautiful dark green in washes. Similar to Perylene green, Dark forest is perfect for delineating shadows or creating moody landscapes, ominous horizons and stormy seas.

Made by hand in Assisi, our watercolors are crafted according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent. This artisanal process creates a very pigmented and luminous paint that activates beautifully when wet.

A. Gallo Colors are 100% handmade. Pans may contain small imperfections like tiny bubbles and minor blemishes. This does not affect the quality of the paint and is a sign of the human touch that goes into making each and every unique pan!
