The Naturale 36 contains our complete collection of exquisite earth, mineral and plant based pigments from the Mediterranean basin to the forests of Sumatra, from the mountains of Chile to the volcanos of Iceland.

This palette includes our twelve newest natural tones!

Many of the colors in the Naturale Collection are granulating. For bold results, these unique natural colors perform best when pre-wet with a drop of water.

Two of the most exclusive additions to this palette are Stil de grain light, a surprisingly bright, transparent yellow lake pigment made from Buckthorn berries and Han purple, a granulating and regal purple historic pigment first created in ancient China over 2,500 years ago.

Five of the colors included in this extensive palette are made with Iwa-Enogu Japanese mineral pigments. These pigments have undergone a special elutriation process that achieves precise and uniform particle sizes. These particles of nearly identical size and shape offer exceptionally clear colors with unique texture. Orange iron oxide and Tourmaline are made with Iwa-Enogu single pigments.

The historic trio of Cinabro hue, Azurite hue and Malachite hue are made using an Enogu pigment base of Peach agate, Sodalite and Amazonite respectively. The stone pigment base has allowed us to maintain a mineral quality in these copper and mercury-free hues.

Other highlights include, genuine Lapis lazuli, extra fine, an intense deep blue color made from the semi-precious stone used in historical painting. We have a new exclusive source for our premium extra fine Lapis lazuli. This exquisite Fra Angelico blue pigment is made by grinding semi-precious lapis lazuli stones into a powder and exacting the purest pigment in small, artisan batches. Indigo, genuine is an ancient colorant made from the fermented gray green leaves and flowering stalks of over 30 related plant species, including the medicinal indigo shrub Indigofera tinctoria native to India. Rose Madder (NR9), genuine is a transparent red pigment made from the root of the Rubia tinctorum plant. Madder was used in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome for dyeing textiles and, to some extent, making pigments.

Other notable colors in this palette are Lilac, a fresh, granulating delicate purple and a single pigment Van Dyck brown made from real German lignite. Icelandic red earth is a semi-transparent pigment with a subtly variegated color display of plum and red ochre tones. This pigment was collected by David Kremer and landscape painter Peter Lang from near the volcano Snaefellsjoekull in western Iceland.

Handmade watercolor set of thirty-six individually wrapped half pans in a metal tin with two mixing surfaces, a color chart printed on Arches watercolor paper, and a cruelty free Tintoretto traditional mop brush size 0. The Naturale 36 handmade watercolor set is packaged with original marbled paper by a Florentine artisan workshop and comes inside a hand made linen bag.

Made by hand in Assisi, our watercolors are crafted according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent. This artisanal process creates a very pigmented and luminous paint that activates beautifully when wet.

The paints are exquisite, the packaging is decadent, and customer service is peerless. Everyone, regardless of skill level, deserves the luxurious experience of an A Gallo palette.

Grazie!
