Rose madder- half pan
Rose madder- half pan
NR9 | Transparent
Rose Madder, genuine is a traditional, transparent red pigment made from the root of the Rubia tinctorum plant. It has a delicate, natural blush color making it ideal for portrait painting. This transparent pigment has granulating properties in watercolor. Madder was used in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome for dyeing textiles and, to some extent, making pigments.Made by hand in Assisi, our watercolors are crafted according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent. This artisanal process creates a very pigmented and luminous paint that activates beautifully when wet.
